Version 1.11
--------------
V E N D O R I N F O R M A T I O N
--------------------------------------
This file provides information for Shareware Distributors, Disk Vendors and
Computer Clubs who wish to distribute this program.
Program descriptions, BBS file names, and keywords may be found near
the end of this file.
------------------------------------------------------------
Distribution Requirements, Simplified Form
------------------------------------------------------------
BBS's, Disk Vendors, and Computer Clubs:
----------------------------------------
The primary requirement for distribution of this package via these channels
is that it be complete and unaltered, and only in its shareware form (see
'Long Form' below for allowable additions to the package).
Receipt of this package by a vendor directly from Cottonwood Software, the
SDN Project, the ASP CD-ROM, or Author Direct constitutes permission
to distribute this package, provided the package has been received from one
of those sources within the last 6 months.
ASP member organizations are automatically authorized to distribute this
package (in accordance with the rules of the ASP and the above-mentioned
restrictions). Notification as described below is optional, but encouraged
for your own benefit.
Non-ASP vendors may distribute this package in accordance with the rules
described in the 'Long Form' below, but the vendor must contact Cottonwood
Software to indicate the distribution channel name and type, so we can add
you to our database and better serve you and our customers. A simple post
card, phone message, E-mail or FAX is sufficient, provided that you include
your company name, address, phone number, distribution channel type/name,
and the program name and version that you are distributing. Any other
comments about the program, your business, or other ways to reach you
(eg. Compuserve ID) are appreciated. (Thank You!)
Rack Vendors and CD-ROM manufacturers:
--------------------------------------
All rack vendors and CD-ROM manufacturers must contact Cottonwood Software
BEFORE distribution, and must provide a contract (with royalty arrangements
if required for this package) before any distribution or advertising of this
package is done. Cottonwood Software requires that at least one copy of
a sample distribution package (rack package or CD-ROM) be submitted
for our review (if you have previously distributed shareware in this form),
or detailed information about the distribution package (if you have not).
This requirement applies to ASP member rack/CD-ROM vendors as well, except
as noted below:
This requirement does NOT apply to any rack/CD-ROM vendors who receive this
package directly from Cottonwood Software. However, any other licenses,
contracts, or agreements that may have accompanied the package in written
form must be complied with.
All other forms of distribution:
--------------------------------
See below for detailed requirements.
------------------------------------------------------------
Distribution Requirements, Long Form
------------------------------------------------------------
As the exclusive copyright holder for this program, Cottonwood Software
authorizes distribution only in accordance with the following restrictions.
This package is defined as containing all the material listed in the Packing
List section of the enclosed documentation file(s). If any files listed in
the Packing List section, or the documentation file itself, are missing, then
the package is not complete and distribution is forbidden. Please contact
us to obtain a complete package suitable for distribution.
This package - including all related program files and documentation files -
CANNOT be modified in any way and must be distributed as a complete package,
without exception.
Small additions to the package, such as the introductory or installation
batch files used by many shareware disk vendors, are acceptable.
Many BBSs customarily add a small text file (advertisement) to each archived
file. This text file describes the BBS and tells people that the file was
downloaded from that particular BBS. Other BBSs add a small one-line message
with their BBS name and phone number into the compressed file, which will
display when the file is uncompressed. Either of these methods of mentioning
your BBS are acceptable and may be used, provided the program and
documentation is otherwise unmodified and complete.
No price or other compensation may be charged for this package. A distribution
fee may be charged for the cost of the diskette, shipping and handling, as long
as the total (per disk) does not exceed US $8.00 in the U.S. and Canada, or US
$12.00 internationally.
Disk Sets & CD-ROMs:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This package CANNOT be sold as part of some other inclusive package. Nor can
it be included in any commercial software packaging offer, without a written
agreement from Cottonwood Software.
ASP Approved Vendors who wish to distribute this package as part of a
collection (such as PsL's MegaDisk set, or a CD-ROM package) may do so
provided that all the other restrictions are met.
Vendors (non-ASP Vendor Members) who wish to distribute this package as part
of a collection (such as PsL's MegaDisk set, or a CD-ROM package) must obtain
permission from Cottonwood Software prior to beginning such a distribution.
If you wish to add any of our programs to a CD-ROM or other collection, please
check the release date of the version you have. If the version is over twelve
(12) months old then please contact us to ensure that you have the most
current version.
Disk-of-the-Month (or Subscription) Distribution:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you would like to distribute this package as a Disk-of-the-Month, or as
part of a subscription or monthly service, then the following restrictions
apply:
ASP Associate (Disk Vendor) Members in good standing are hereby given
permission to distribute this package under the Disk-of-the-Month style
of distribution.
Others (non-ASP Members) must contact us in advance to ensure that you have
the most current version of the software.
You cannot use a Disk-of-the-Month distribution to use up your inventory of
old (out of date) disks. Only current versions may be shipped as Disk-of-
the-Month disks.
Miscellaneous Requirements
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The PRINTED User's Guide may not be reproduced in whole or in part, using
any means, without the written permission of Cottonwood Software. In other
(hardcopy) form.
You may not list any of our products in advertisements, catalogs, or other
literature which describes our products as "FREE SOFTWARE". Shareware is
"Try-Before-You-Buy" software, it is not free.
Cottonwood Software prohibits the distribution of outdated versions of this
package, without written permission from Cottonwood Software. If the version
you have is over twelve (12) months old, please contact us to ensure that
you have the most current version.
Cottonwood Software reserves the right to deny permission to any distributor
at any time, for any reason. If permission is denied, any remaining (unsold)
unsold CD-ROMS containing the program as a part of a collection.
All rights not expressly granted here are reserved to Cottonwood Software.
by Cottonwood Software <STAR> <CGDA>
Long Description:
-----------------
SuperDIR is a powerful directory lister with some unusual output options,
like:
- Comma or Tab delimited output option for import to database/spreadsheets
- Sorting files throughout directories (rather than just within the dir.)
- Multiple include and exclude filters for files and directory names.
- Mulitple paths/drives may be searched at once (registered version only)
- Indenting by directory level
SuperDIR was originally designed for creating directory listings for
import into spreadsheets or database programs. The primary use was to
make a complete file database of a shareware CD-ROM, with paths, for use
by a shareware cataloging/extraction program.
It is also useful in finding duplicate files on a disk, as well as being
a good general-purpose DIR replacement with multiple include/exclude
capabilities.
The other intent was to 'showcase' some general C++ programming methods
such as objects, recursive objects, subclassing, encapsulation, etc.
As a result of these objectives, there are no fancy Graphical interfaces
in SuperDIR; just a hard-working program that spits out directory lines
one at a time. The underlying code is highly-modularized C++, which could
be used in any number of projects that need directory information. It
also makes use of some general-purpose C++ class objects such as a
command-line argument parser class and a linked-list class. You will
get the complete source code when you register SuperDIR.
(See 'Registering' below for more information.)
